New Feature: Archive Lists to Reduce Clutter

We're excited to announce a new feature that many of you have been requesting: List Archiving! This feature allows you to declutter your dashboard by archiving lists that you're not actively using but still want to keep for reference.

Why Archive Lists?

As your productivity increases with FreeTodoList, you might find yourself creating more and more lists for different projects, goals, or areas of your life. While this organization is great, it can sometimes lead to a cluttered dashboard that makes it difficult to focus on your current priorities.

That's where list archiving comes in:

  • Reduce Dashboard Clutter: Keep your active lists front and center
  • Preserve List History: Don't lose your completed work - just archive it
  • Improve Focus: Maintain attention on current projects
  • Better Organization: Separate active and inactive projects

How to Use List Archiving

Using list archiving is simple:

  1. To Archive a List:

    • Open any list
    • Click the Actions dropdown in the top-right corner
    • Select Archive List
  2. To View Archived Lists:

    • Go to your Dashboard
    • Look for the Archived Lists link next to your active lists count
    • Click to see all your archived lists
  3. To Restore a List:

    • Open an archived list
    • Click the Actions dropdown in the top-right corner
    • Select Restore List

Alternatively, you can:
- Go to the Archived Lists page
- Use the Restore button next to any list

The Benefits of Archiving

When a list is archived:

  • It's removed from your main dashboard view
  • Items within archived lists don't appear in your overdue items count
  • Archived lists don't appear in RSS feeds
  • All list data is preserved (items, descriptions, sharing settings, etc.)

Archiving is different from deleting. When you archive a list, you're simply moving it out of your active workflow while preserving all its contents. You can restore it at any time.

Get Started with List Archiving

This feature is available now to all FreeTodoList users. Log in today and try archiving those completed project lists or seasonal to-dos that you don't need right now but might want to reference later.

We hope this feature helps you maintain a cleaner, more focused workflow. As always, we welcome your feedback on this and any other features you'd like to see in FreeTodoList!

Happy organizing!
