Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-03

These terms cover your use of FreeTodoList.com (the "Service"). By using the site you agree to them. They're written in plain English; nothing here is legal advice or a contract drafted by a lawyer.

The service

FreeTodoList lets you create todo lists. It's free and provided as-is. No account is required for basic use; an optional account adds cross-device sync and a dashboard.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

  • Store or share illegal content
  • Spam, phish, scrape excessively, or abuse the API rate limits
  • Harass or impersonate others
  • Try to break the site (we don't run a formal bug-bounty program, but if you find a security issue, please send feedback — we'll fix it and thank you)

We may suspend or delete any list or account that violates these rules, with or without notice.

Your content

You own the lists and items you create. We claim no ownership of your content.

You're responsible for what you put into the Service. If you share a list publicly, you're saying it's OK to be public.

When you create a shareable link, anyone who has the link can see (or, with the editable link, modify) that list.

Our content

The site itself — its design, code, blog posts, and templates — is ours. The application source code may be open or closed at our discretion. Templates are licensed for personal and commercial use within your own todo lists.

Availability

The Service is provided as-is, with no guarantees of uptime, durability, or fitness for any particular purpose. We try to keep it running and we keep good backups, but we can't promise that:

  • The site will always be available
  • Your data won't ever be lost (back up anything important via the Markdown / Plain Text export)
  • Any specific feature will continue to exist forever

Pricing

The Service is free. We don't charge for it and we won't suddenly add a paywall to features you're already using. If we ever introduce paid features, existing free functionality will stay free.

Termination

You can stop using the Service any time. To delete your account and all your data, send feedback.

We can terminate accounts that violate these terms, or shut down the Service entirely. We'll do our best to give notice if a shutdown is planned.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, FreeTodoList and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. The maximum aggregate liability is limited to what you paid us, which is $0.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated terms.
